GIVE US OUR DAILY BREAD…and Turkey and all the trimmings…

The irony of our Thanksgiving Myth:  We celebrate a story of a feast hundreds of years ago, that commemorates the peaceful welcome to this land, by its Native People, of the First European Refugees from across the sea. . . Meanwhile, we debate and deny the same to others fleeing for their freedom now.

This irony has been observed by others and pointed out in different ways this season, but I wonder how many actually think about the great lie we live and believe daily. We believe this nation to be free and naturally blessed. We take it all for granted and presume a right to judge other nations and people’s beliefs. And worst of all, we do this in the name of some kind of religious and moral idea that we are the “land of freedom” while denying and taking away the right from others, even from the poor among our own people.

Who are we to judge anyone but ourselves?
