Dance the Dawn

Dance the Dawn

I was pretty exasperated working on this Blog a week ago, and decided to leave it alone for a while to give myself a break.   But a whole week!!??  This time-loss thing is  scarey… Where does the time sneak off to when I’m not looking and my mind is rambling through some dream-fantasy world?

Well…  I had my seventy-fifth birthday yesterday…  (might help explain the rambling mind)… and so I did spend a good bit of time this past week having fun instead of working at my computer.  Friends stopped by one morning with gifts, and there were a few phone calls from a very good friend arranging for a brunch gathering on Sunday with three more of my closest buddies.   There were lots of emails, and a ton of Facebook birthday greetings… all wonderful and had to be read and answered asap.

The brunch on Sunday was a great ‘gab-fest’ of shared memories, stories and jokes,  which gave me tons more ‘food for thought’ later.   Oh, and my two six-month-old baby cats had their surgeries for spay and neuter, and needed a little extra TLC.   Moreover, the weather has turned quite lovely with temps in the 50-60 degree range, so I felt compelled to go and survey the yard damage from winter, to assess the huge cleanup job awaiting.  And I did go to work at my day-job of course.

Yeah.  So now I have adequately explained to myself why the past week simply disappeared without my noticing.  This is why I make LISTS.  In fact, each morning I spend a few minutes making a list of what I want to accomplish that day.   It helps me keep on track so Time does not get away from me quite so quickly.   Of course, there are always more items on my lists than I can realistically accomplish in one day, but in the early hours it always seems like I have lots of time.  By about 3 pm I realize I’ve only done a few things on the list… or sometimes only one.

I can get pretty down on myself when I fail to accomplish anything I consider constructive.  (By which I mean get something creative accomplished with writing or sewing, not just ordinary housework.)  But I am happy when I can check things off my day’s “To-Do List” and I am positively elated when I achieve some major goal…  Like I will be when I finally get this Blog in shape!  So, with that, perhaps I should stop this chit-chat and get back to it!

Bye for now… more later.
